Special Care Dental has specifically designed its clinic in North Adelaide to accommodate patients with special needs, including those with mental and physical disabilities.
We have lift access and our surgeries and corridors have enough room for all types of large wheelchairs. In addition, our surgeries have specialist equipment which enables us to provide dental services to patients with a wide range of disabilities and conditions, including:
- Para and quadriplegic
- Multiple sclerosis
- Muscular dystrophy
- Cerebral palsy
- Autism spectrum
- Downs syndrome
- Anxiety and depression
If sedation is required we can use nitrous oxide (happy gas), which provides immediate pain and anxiety relief.
Alternatively we offer a full range of services in hospital, where treatment can be done at Calvary Wakefield Hospital, North Adelaide, Millicent District Hospital or Mt Gambier Hospital with the patient under sedation or general anaesthetic.
Our hygienists are also familiar with assisting patients with disabilities and can tailor an oral hygiene regimen to suit their individual needs.
